Colony add-on Info series Part 1

Aloha,


The translation of the colony add-on is progressing steadily and we are working right on our time schedule. As soon as we can start testing we will give out a more specific release date. Until then, we can assure you that this add-on will definitely be released this year.

In the following we would like to provide you with some information about the upcoming colony add-on. From today on we will post information on a weekly basis, which means each week we introduce a new feature coming with the add-on to you.
Today we will start with the colony harbor system. Discussions and questions regarding the various points are welcome.

Altogether there will be 33 colonies which can be created. These colonies will be differing in three city types. We will discuss all four city types a bit later on.


The following prerequisites are necessary to establish a colony:

- The character establishing a colony must be the guild leader
- The guild must be at least level 5
- The guild cannot have already established a colony before
- There are many different points where colonies can be built, however, only those points which have not previously been built upon can be used.

Only after completing the necessary quest series can a player receive a so-called “harbor cornerstone”. This item is bound to the character that earned it, and is used to create a colony.

The construction points are distributed over the following areas:

- Black Sea : 6
- North Sea : 3
- Northern Atlantic : 6
- Southern Atlantic : 6
- East Atlantic : 2
- Asian Pacific : 4
- Indonesian Pacific : 4
- Australian Pacific: 2

After the establishment of your colony you will have 48 hours to upgrade it to level 1. Should you not succeed; the colony will self destruct and all used resources will be lost.

In addition to the city types you will have to choose between four different development paths. The development paths have to be chosen carefully, because a re-orientation will be very expensive.

You can choose between the following paths:

  • Industrial Harbor: Specializes in the research of weapons, armor and the trade of pets
  • Business Harbor: Specializes in the trade of materials between the different colonies
  • Collectors Harbor: Specializes in importing and gathering of materials which can normally only be bought from NPC’s
  • Military Harbor: Specializes in the research of new ships, new ship features, canons and ammunition

As soon as the harbor cornerstone is applied you have to decide which of the development paths and a city types you want to use. The city type does not influence the development path, but rather just determines the outer appearance.

You can choose between the following city types:

- Rural Village
- Industrial City
- Buccaneer’s hideout

Colonies which are established can be destroyed again. The following scenarios are possible:

- Destruction through bankruptcy
- Disbanding of the guild
- Self-destruction

From the new colony harbor system players will have the following advantages:

- A new contact point for trading and bargaining
- A new opportunity to create new worlds


From the new colony harbor system, guilds will have the following advantages:

- Weak military guilds will have a base to retreat and to fully regenerate
- Through upgrading of your colony all guild members will retrieve improved character stats like for example higher attack power, improved regeneration rates or higher ship movement and speed

Conclusion:


The add-on is basically interesting for casual gamers as well as for hard core gamers with guilds, cause there will be a lot of new content added. Small guilds, which had disadvantages in city sieges will get a possibility to create new markets, because there will be a lot more colonies to populate than there were cities to conquer.
